Description

BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a natural protective gastric protein. This 15-amino acid research peptide is extensively studied for its systemic regenerative and protective properties across multiple tissue types. It demonstrates remarkable stability in gastric acid, promoting healing in musculoskeletal structures and the gastrointestinal tract.

Key Benefits
Research applications and potential benefits
  • Accelerates healing in tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues.
  • Enhances angiogenesis through modulation of growth factor expression.
  • Provides potent gastroprotective effects, supporting GI tract integrity.
  • Supports tendon-to-bone healing and optimized collagen synthesis.
  • Exhibits anti-inflammatory action by modulating cytokine pathways.
  • Facilitates neuroprotection and nerve tissue repair in research models.
  • Stable formulation suitable for diverse administration routes in studies.
Mechanism of Action
How this peptide works

BPC-157 exerts its regenerative effects through modulation of multiple interconnected signaling pathways. The peptide significantly influences growth factor expression, particularly Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), which is crucial for promoting angiogenesis and ensuring adequate perfusion to healing tissues. Furthermore, BPC-157 interacts with the Nitric Oxide (NO) system, supporting vascular health and regulating blood flow essential for tissue repair processes. At the cellular level, the peptide engages the FAK-paxillin pathway, which governs cell adhesion, migration, and cytoskeletal organization—processes vital for effective wound healing and tissue remodeling. BPC-157 demonstrates potent anti-inflammatory capabilities by regulating cytokine production and reducing inflammatory mediator release. Its gastroprotective mechanism involves maintaining mucosal integrity, promoting epithelial cell migration, and protecting against gastric insults such as NSAIDs and stress-induced damage.

Research Applications
Areas of scientific research

BPC-157 is a primary focus in musculoskeletal injury research, including investigations into tendon, ligament, and muscle regeneration, as well as post-surgical recovery models. Its applications extend significantly into gastrointestinal healing studies, particularly in models related to inflammatory bowel disease and mucosal repair. The peptide is also extensively utilized in research concerning bone healing, fracture repair, and neuroprotection, offering insights into nerve regeneration following injury. Due to its broad regenerative scope and multiple mechanisms of action, BPC-157 is a foundational tool in comparative studies with other regenerative peptides and is highly relevant for tissue engineering and vascular health investigations.

Research Dosing Protocol
Reconstitution guide and research reference — for laboratory use only

BPC-157 Dosing Protocol

Vial size: 5 mg lyophilised powder

Reconstitution

Add 2.0 mL of bacteriostatic water to yield a working concentration of approximately 2.5 mg/mL (2,500 mcg/mL). Inject the water slowly down the inner wall of the vial to minimise foaming. Swirl gently until fully dissolved — do not shake vigorously. Label the vial with the reconstitution date and store at 2–8 °C, protected from light.

At 2.5 mg/mL on a U-100 insulin syringe: 1 unit = 0.01 mL = 25 mcg.

Research Protocol Overview

ParameterValue
Typical range200–500 mcg per administration
FrequencyOnce or twice daily
Cycle length4–12 weeks
TimingAny consistent time; fasted or fed
RouteSubcutaneous injection

Gradual titration approach: Begin at 200 mcg once daily for the first two weeks to assess tolerability, then advance to 300–500 mcg per administration as the research protocol requires.

Storage

  • Lyophilised (unreconstituted): Store at −20 °C for long-term stability; refrigerate at 2–8 °C for short-term use.
  • Reconstituted: Refrigerate at 2–8 °C; use within 4 weeks. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Injection Technique

Cleanse the injection site with an alcohol swab and allow to air-dry. Pinch the skin lightly and insert the needle at 45–90°. Inject slowly and steadily, wait two to three seconds, then withdraw at the same angle. Rotate sites systematically (abdomen, thighs, upper arms) to reduce local irritation. Dispose of all sharps in an approved sharps container immediately after use.
